100 Films Screened at Hainan Film Festival
The first Hainan International Film Festival kicked off in the coastal city of Sanya on 11 December and drew to a dazzling close on Sunday.
More than 150 stars, including Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, American model-actress Maggie Q and Taiwan actor Chang Chen, appeared on the red carpet and at the opening ceremony which was held on Tuesday night.
The festival, which ran until 17 December, screened nearly 100 films from more than 30 countries and regions.
A series of activities, including several forums and master classes discussed how to shape a better future for the film industry in China, which has become the world's second-largest movie market where nearly half of its annual box-office revenue still earned by Hollywood blockbusters.
The closing ceremony took place on Sunday evening in Sanya's Haitang Bay where a star-studded line-up including Johnny Depp, Amir Khan and the festival's ambassador Jackie Chan all made appearances.
